RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE AND RECYCLING SCHEDULE

Starting in February 2008, Beach Haven residents will be able to incorporate various types of paper into a recycling paper stream that can go into one container for curbside pickup.  A new garbage and recycling schedule will be posted on this website once it is finalized.  Click here for a brief overview of how the new paper stream recycling will work.  Residents are reminded that bottles, cans, and plastic containers will still be picked up commingled, and must be in a separate container from the paper materials.

Re: WARNING NOTICE - VIOLATION of the Municipal Code of the Borough of Beach Haven

To Beach Haven Residential Property Owners:

1.     This letter is to inform you that recent observations of your Beach Haven residential property disclosed the storage of Solid Waste cans (garbage cans or containers) in your front yard.  Such storage is in violation of the Municipal Code of the Borough of Beach Haven, Article 173-5 A (4), “ Persons placing their cans anywhere in the front yard must remove the cans so as to keep them out of sight and prevented from being blown away by 8:00pm on the day of collection”.

2.     Front yard storage of garbage cans or containers in wooden or plastic corrals, while preventing them from being blown away, does not remove the cans so as to keep them out of sight as the Municipal Code demands.  They must be removed from your front yard prior to 8:01pm on your collection day.  For corner lots, the front yard is both yards which are adjacent to any public street.

3.     Many residents and taxpayers have voiced concern about the recent proliferation of garbage can storage corrals being placed on public right of ways, (the ten foot strip between your property and the street) and, front yards.  Front yard storage has long been prohibited by the Municipal Code to maintain the beauty of our community, your voluntary cooperation is expected.

4.     Hopefully, violation enforcement will be avoided through your voluntary compliance with the Municipal Code.

Sincerely,

Chief of Police

NOTE: Bulk Trash (large items, furniture, etc.) will NOT  be picked up from June 12th through Sept. 17th.  A fee of $15 per item is now required for disposal of major appliances.  Call Borough Hall at 609-492-0111 or Dept. of Public Works at 609-492-2525 for details.
