PT PARKS & RECREATION COORDINATOR WANTED

The Borough of Beach Haven is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Parks & Recreation team as Coordinator. Under direction, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of events within our parks and recreational areas. This role requires a creative thinker with excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a passion for creating memorable experiences for the community.  This position would be part-time at an hourly rate of $25/hr.  Some hours may be evening and/or weekend, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program/Event Development:
    • Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational programs, classes, and events for individuals of all ages including community festivals, sports tournaments, summer events, cultural events, and recreational programs.
    • Research and stay informed about current trends and best practices in recreational programming.
    • Recruit event organizers to hold events in Beach Haven.
    • Recruit and qualify ample volunteers in a volunteer pool.
    • Assist the Deputy Borough Manager in synchronizing internal departments and external partners, as needed, to ensure seamless coordination of events.
  • Logistics and Coordination:
    • Coordinate with event organizers to ensure compliance with Borough procedures before, during and, after the events.
    • Work closely with Borough staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth event operations.
    • Meet regularly with the Parks and Recreation Committee to develop action plans.
    • Monitor and act a liaison between active recreation staff and borough administrative staff on a daily basis.
    • Ensure safety and security measures to safeguard participants and attendees.
  • Gator Coordination and Dispatch:
    • Coordinate the Gator Program – transportation to and from Beach Haven beaches for seniors and people with a disability.
    • Optimize use of the gator through scheduling and process improvement.
    • Coordinate with Gator driver(s) to effectively execute the program.
  • Promotion and Marketing:
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote events and increase community participation.
    • Utilize various communication channels, such as website, social media, press releases, and community outreach, to effectively market events.
    • Work with the Borough webmaster to update the website(s) on an ongoing basis.
  • Budget Management:
    • Seek sponsorship opportunities and partnerships to offset event costs and enhance community engagement.
    • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Foster positive relationships with the community, local businesses, and organizations to enhance support and collaboration for events.
    • Solicit and incorporate feedback from community members to continually improve and tailor events to their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in event planning and coordination, preferably in a Parks & Recreation setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and ability to think innovatively to enhance event experiences.
  • Experience marketing, promotions and social media.
